Plague Monks (III)

These two plague monks are just shown here for the sake of completeness, not really because they are great paint jobs.
With these two I have now a unit of 20.
Other posts with plague monks can be found here and here.

These two monks add 12 points for 4th ed. and 9 for 3rd. ed.

Stormvermin (II)

As I mentioned when I posted the first part of this unit, I was missing another set of 10 stormvermin, including the command group.
I was finally able to get the remaining figures I needed to complete the unit.
I have painted them using the same technique, black fur, matt red armour and white clothing.

These 9 stormvermin complete the unit to have 20, with halberds they add 103.5 points for 4th ed. and 67.5 for 3rd. ed.

Skaven Special Characters

With my last post I have now completed the collection of all Special Characters from 4th ed.

Here is a group photo, each one with their unique style, but I think that all together they fit nicely.

Sons of Horus Checkpoint

I thought I would step back and look closely at one of the targets I have set for 2017, that is, paint the Sons of Horus.
Even though I have painted already two Dreadnoughts and some marines, I still have a long way to go, specially after adding more from the Burning of Prospero set.
Here you can see a group picture of the whole Army.

This is the full list that needs to be painted:

  • 1 Dreadnought
  • 1 Imperial Knight
  • 2 Rhinos
  • 1 Sicaran
  • 6 Marines with Missile Launchers
  • 2 Marines with Lascannons
  • 6 Marines with Plasma guns
  • 10 Cataphractii Terminators
  • 5 Tartaros Terminators
  • 1 Librarian in Cataphractii Terminator Armour
  • Abaddon
  • 1 Praetor in Cataphractii Terminator Armour
  • 25 Marines with Boltgun
  • 4 Sergeants in Power Armour
  • 12 Marines with Jump packs
  • 1 Sergeant with Jump pack
  • 10 Veterans
  • 2 Apothecaries
  • Loken
  • 2 Praetors with Jump packs
  • 2 Praetor with Power Armour
  • 1 Master of Signal
  • 1 Standard Bearer
  • 1 Davinite Lodge Priest
That makes for an impressive total of ... 2 Walkers, 3 Tanks, 18 Terminators, 75 Marines and 1 Human, a grand total of 99 miniatures.

Out of the whole Army, I have painted so far...
  • 2 Dreadnoughts
  • 7 Marines with Plasma guns
  • 6 Marines with Heavy Bolters
  • 14 Marines with Boltguns
  • 1 Sergeant

Let's see if I make it or not, it's going to be fun!

Throt the Unclean

Throt is one of the few miniatures that were redesigned in 7th ed. that I decided to buy in addition to the classic one that I already painted last year.

Since the figure looks like a bloated plague monk I decided to paint it in different shades of green and add some grime to the clothes.

Throt adds 80 points to any 4th ed. Army and 9,5points in 3rd ed. as it counts as a Beastmaster from Clan Moulder.

Here is a comparison of the new and old Throt, painted in 2015. They have roughly the same height, but the new one is much more bulkier.

Ikit Claw

Ikit Claw is another of those classical models from 4th ed. that got a new version in 7th ed. I think that the new version, even though is quite good, did not improve too much on the original idea.

For this one I have chosen the same colors as the rest of the Army for the Skryre Clan. The standard is hand painted using the techniques described by Nico.

As a last touch, I added a poison globe in the base, ready to be thrown.

Ikit adds 147 points for 3rd ed. as it counts as a Warpsquealer (level 15 wizard) and 340 points in 4th ed.
